ROM

In Amiga computers, ROM refers to the Kickstart firmware stored in read-only memory chips, containing the operating system core, Exec microkernel, and essential device drivers. Kickstart versions evolved from 1.0 (1985) through 3.1 (1994) and beyond, with later Amigas supporting flashable ROMs for updates. The ROM is mapped into memory space and provides the foundation for the Amiga's low-level functionality and boot process.
