Blitz Basic

Blitz Basic (officially Blitz BASIC 2) is a compiled programming language for the Amiga developed by Mark Sibly and released in the early 1990s. Unlike interpreted BASIC dialects, it compiles source code directly to optimized 68000 machine code, enabling performance comparable to assembly language while maintaining high-level syntax. It was specifically designed for game development, providing direct access to Amiga custom chips (Agnus, Denise, Paula) and copper lists, making it the preferred choice for many commercial and shareware game developers who needed speed without writing pure assembly.
